I have been so gosh darn busy lately with school and work that I haven’t had very much time for anything else… but I have a lovely lil post for you all. I’m not sure if you know this but i have a BA in English, which really just means I love to read! I needed a new book, so while in the book store, I randomly picked up the Rules of Civility by Amor Towels. Unbeknownst to me, it was an amazing read! I got in because it is set in Manhattan in the late 1930’s. As of late, I have had a fascination with the 20’s & 30’s and absolutely love books and movies set in this time period.
Rule of Civility follows the life of twenty-something Katey Kontent- the fascinating parties she attends, the slummy speakeasy’S she loves, her crazy friend Eve, heart ache and betrayal, and her raise in society.
I always imagine I would love to be a gal living in Manhattan in the 20’s or 30’s… it seems so glamorous, reckless, and rough all at the same time…
Rules of Civility one of New York Times Bestsellers and there is no doubt why. This is Amor Towels first novel, do here is hoping he writes another fantastic story for nostalgic gals like me living in 2013.
