My mom had asked me to help her out with a fashion show she was doing on Thursday night at the Hotel Macdonald downtown and with a doubt I said sure!
The event was called ” Wine, Women, and Shoes”.The evening consisted of free flowing wine, tasty appetizers, a silent and live auction ( the money raised to go to the Canadian Golf Foundation), a best in shoe (contest), and of course a fashion show ( from the stores my mom runs- Nygard)
Next week, Edmonton plays host to the women PGA open, so the event was centred around golf and celebrating women and the sport. Many of the auction items included golf lessons, elaborate golf getaways, and even a few opportunities to play with professionals.
Not only was my mom there to over see the fashion, which included items from Tan Jay, Alia, and Bianca Nygard, she also was giving away a gift certificate, in a fun and creative way! Each attendee received a key when they picked up their name tag – one lucky winner had the key that unlocked the lock and chain wrapped around a Nygard mannequin, and thus was the winner!
( mind the glare)
This was a chance for me to get all dolled up and wear a fancy dress, something that rarely happens. So I took advantage of the opportunity and wore a beautiful dress by Bettie Page, that I had yet to have an event to wear to.
I did my hair in victory rolls, pinned in a black flower, and wore a pair of satin heels. I got a ton of complements on my dress, so I am thinking it wont be too long before I wear it again! I got this gorgeous frock from Rowena. I know that they only have one left in stock right now, but it wouldn’t surprise me if they are ordering in more- this dress is fantastic and extremely flattering!
One of the live auction donations was a one of a kind gown by local designer Trisha Pasnak. Her designs can be purchased at Lucid Lifestyle on Whyte Avenue.
And of course we got swag bags!

This event was a lot of fun and I hope to be seeing many more fashion shows in the near future!
