Tatyana has me seeing spots.

Back in the summer I purchased a few dresses off of the Tatyana website. This was when they were switching from Bettie Page to Tatyana and had just listed a ton of super cute dresses in their clearance section. I had my eye on this little yellow number for a while but was scared to take the plunge – I usually stick to safer colours that I am familiar and comfortable with. Gosh, I can’t even recall the last time I had worn yellow! But at the price, I could not pass up this yellow wiggle dress

.taty1I was flipping through my closet trying to decide what to wear to work, when I thought, golly, I have only worn this dress once since I purchased it! I slipped it on and thought once more, why don’t I wear this dress more often?! It is super slinky, which usually makes me weary that it is going to show all my bits, but instead it hugs me just right. This yellow number is very stretchy ( it doesn’t even require a slit) and accentuates my hour glass figure.

taty2While I wore this dress to work, I think it would be equally fantastic for a night out. If there is one thing I love, its a low cut neckline and this dress does not disappoint. A pair of black heels, back-seam stockings, and vintage bangles complete my look; for an evening out, a black vinyl clutch would do the trick!

Tatyana still has a big clearance section on their website, which I believe is the brand clearing out the old Bettie Page items. Nonetheless, you can get a fantastic deal on a dress or two. I think I may have paid $20 for this dress and it was worth every dime. I purchased another one at the same time, but still have to get it tailored ( if you don’t see your size.consider buying one up to get it taken it- the price is right). I got this wiggle dress in a medium and it is the perfect fit. I find Tatyana usually fits true to size. I measure at 37-30-41.

taty4I can’t resist Cherries little face! She just wants to be a model ( it think she might just make it, don’t you?)

Below are the pretty bangle I paired with my dress- both gifts; one a glass olive bangle, and the other a yellow butterscotch carved Bakelite bangle.

What is your favorite wiggle dress? Or your favorite Tatyana dress?

You can’t see it in the photo below but there are copper flecks in the black, which makes this retro handbag even more delicious!

Lux De Ville has come out with limited edition flame diablo darling clutches which I can not get enough of. These clutches are the perfect size too- big enough to fit more than just your lipstick and phone, but still compact enough to not take up too much room; the handle is a great size too and actually functional. If you have your eye on one of these, snatch it up quick, because they are  limited addition. You can find them in the store or for phone order.

Danger De Lux Review: The Megan from Bettie Page

Bettie Page has some absolute amazing designs and certain dresses are always guaranteed to sell. The Alika, Silver Roses, and the Megan- these lovely dresses always sell out. Rowena just got in the Megan in red and something compelled me to try  it on.

_DSC0241-2Now, before I talk about why I don’t like it on me, let me first tell you what I love about it despite that fact. The Megan is made of the loveliest stretch fabric, which makes it so very comfortable. It also has some great details, not only in the front but the back is lovely. I have seen this dress on many, many ladies of all different sizes and have not seen one. that didn’t look fabulous. I think what throws me off is that it is red… I never wear this much red because the colour of my hair. I also think I should have tried it on with some shape wear, because I am looking a little boxy, and I definitely  am not boxy.

I am wearing my usual size, a medium, and in the photos it is looking a touch big, which makes me wonder if I could have gone down a size because of the stretch…. Do you have a Megan? What do you think of the fit?

My measurements are: Bust: 37″ Waist: 29″ Hips 40″

The back is super cute and has a faux button look. I love this dress from the behind! I’m wearing a hell bunny crinoline under neath and paired it with some BAIT heels.

_DSC0246-2Rowena carries the very best of Bettie Page, as does RetroGlam.com so go have a peak and get a Megan ( or Alika, or Silver Roses, or whatever tickles your fancy)

Wine, Women & Shoes

My mom had asked me to help her out with a fashion show she was doing on Thursday night at the Hotel Macdonald downtown and with a doubt I said sure!

fashion show 001

The event was called ” Wine, Women, and Shoes”.The evening consisted of free flowing wine, tasty appetizers, a silent and live auction ( the money raised to go to the Canadian Golf Foundation), a best in shoe (contest), and of course a fashion show ( from the stores my mom runs- Nygard)

Next week, Edmonton plays host to the women PGA open, so the event was centred around golf and celebrating women and the sport. Many of the auction items included golf lessons, elaborate golf getaways, and even a few opportunities to play with professionals.

Not only was my mom there to over see the fashion, which included items from Tan Jay, Alia, and Bianca Nygard, she also was giving away a gift certificate, in a fun and creative way! Each attendee received a key when they picked up their name tag – one lucky winner had the key that unlocked the lock and chain wrapped around a Nygard mannequin, and thus was the winner!

( mind the glare)

This was a chance for me to get all dolled up and wear a fancy dress, something that rarely happens. So I took advantage of the opportunity and wore a beautiful dress by Bettie Page, that I had yet to have an event to wear to.

fashion show 004

I did my hair in victory rolls, pinned in a black flower, and wore a pair of satin heels. I got a ton of complements on my dress, so I am thinking it wont be too long before I wear it again! I got this gorgeous frock from Rowena. I know that they only have one left in stock right now, but it wouldn’t surprise me if they are ordering in more- this dress is fantastic and extremely flattering!

what i wore: bettie page

While I was in Vegas in February, I stopped in at the Bettie Page store in Ceasars Palace only to find a lovely little white swing skirt. I almost always shy away from white…White only looks good when it is crisp and clean, and well, white. I decided I liked it too much to pass it up, besides it would be great in the summer. Oh and I got it for an amazing price! Recall  my recent profession of love for swins skirts? So, really it was destiny that I found this skirt.

bettie page 013

I wore it with a chropped grey t-shirt from a generic store in the mall, my Fly London heels, and a white hibiscus flower

This skirt was so comfy today especially now that summer has decided to actaully show up! It was one of the first nice days this year and I figured it was the perfect time to wear this pretty skirt for the first time.I think I will search out a cute red or blue top to wear with it next time; I am totally digging cropped tops right now too- I think they look great with swing skirts.

Are you into swing skirts this season too? Have you found a perfect one yet? I’m still on the hunt for more

Las Vegas Kittens!

Hiya Cats and Kittens, I am back from a long six days in Las Vegas!! Like I had mentioned, I was there to go to a huge trade show to help buy some rad new stock for Rowena. Even though it was a work trip, you can bet I had a ton of fun!  Vegas is one of my most favorite places on earth and I already want to go back!!  I plan on telling you all about the amazing new stuff coming in the spring, but before I do, here are some fun pictures and tales from the trip!

On Saturday night, my lovely co-worker and I went to Chateau Nightclub at hotel Paris. I really wanted to go to this club and am oh so happy we did. We had way to much fun and definitely paid for it the next day…
