Rowena & The Junque Cellar

The other weekend I got to take part in a fabulous corroboration between Rowena and another local business, The Junque Cellar. The Junque Cellar has been around since I can remember and houses beautiful antique treasures! They are the only shop right on Whyte Ave that sells vintage furniture and housewares. On my walk home from work I often stop in and drool after all the beautiful pieces – they always have the best vintage couch sets! It’s a wonder why Rowena and The Junque Cellar didn’t collaborate sooner!

The shoot we did had more of a 60’s feel to it show casing some gorgeous Heart of Haute dresses and the always appropriate and timeless Erin from Pinup Girl Clothing! This shoot was extra cute because it involved a blonde, a brunette, and a redhead! The other two models are just adorable gals, who looked amazing in their dresses… like they were made for them!

Heart of Haute is easily becoming one of my favorite brands. The cuts are so flattering on so many body types and the patterns are always beautiful. They are also simple cotton dresses, so they are comfortable to wear and are so easy to dress up or wear casually.

The Monique is a very simple, a line dress, but it is a lovely fit and I am absolutely giddy over the harlequin print it just came in, in both pink and blue!

Heart of Haute also did the Beverly in black, which I am over the moon about. Finally, a simple, black swing dress! I imagine myself wearing it all the time – you do not know how  often I search through my closet for a simple black swing dress, always to be reminded that I do not have one! Kristen is wearing it below and doesn’t it just look amazing on her?

Heart of Haute is known for its classic 50’s & 60s silhouettes and patterns, which are very wearable. Everything they make is in cotton and made in the USA, which means they are built to last.

The amazing Hello June Photography was pumped to get to shoot at The Junque Cellar, where we were able to use the pieces they have for sale as props, to give this shot a great 60’s feel.

You can get all of the dresses seen above at Rowena in Edmonton or at

I’ve had a look at the the new spring collection from Heart of Haute and there are some great patterns coming! Florals are back again, but there are some great 60’s cuts and tropical prints too. This upcoming spring/summer season seems to be promisising for a lot of the brands Rowena carries – looks like Im going to have to get a 2nd job 😉

Dont forget to follow Hello June Photography to take advantage of contests she runs or find out how to book a session.

And follow The Junque Cellar too, especially if you are like me and like to be teased by amazing vintage house wares!

Danger De Lux Review: Winter Blossom by Heart of Haute

I am in love with the Amanda dress from Heart of Haute. This has got to my favorite cut of dress from this brand. I find it very flattering and feminine. Rowena got in the Amanda is Winter Blossom, which made my heart flutter.

I slipped it on and knew it had to be mine.

_DSC0187I love this color, especially with my skin tone and hair color. Its a delicate blue with weaves of gold – I love it!

I love that this dress is just simply cotton, which makes it very wearable, comfortable and so easy to dress up or wear casual. I have to admit, I didn’t think I would truly like it as much as I do. Some colors and fits just really work, and this dress is one of those which just made me feel pretty.

_DSC0192I am wearing the Amanda is medium and it fits great. I shared my measurements a few posts ago, but just a reminder, for reference:
Bust: 37″ Waist: 29″ Hips 40″

I know some Heart of Haute has been fitting small lately, however this one fits just right. This dress is super sweet and I think should become a staple in every pinup gals wardrobe- in this fabric or any of the others.

This darling little dress will be coming home with me and shall be worn to many events- picnics, drinks with girlfriends, weddings, afternoon bbqs- okay, those are just the places I am day dreaming I will wear it, when in fact this spring and summer is going to be so super busy developing my new business! Maybe I can wear it to a business function!

Thanks again to Rowena  for always having the very best dresses! And don’t forget to check out to snag some Heart of Haute, including the Winter Blossom Amanda.

Art Gallery of Alberta FUNHOUSE

The Art Gallery of Alberta, in Edmonton, hosts a late night party every month. This month the theme was FUNHOUSE- cotton candy, finger puppets, clowns, a costume closet and all things fun and silly!

aga and speed 010My girlfriend and I got all dolled up for the evening. I as a” ring master” and she as a “mime clown”

aga and speed 002I wore the new Lilith Top from Pinup Girl, with high-waisted Sourpuss shorts, and my favorite T.U.K creeper wedges- all which I got from Rowena. My date for the night wore the Heart Breaker Marilyn top, with suspenders and high-waisted pencil skirt. I made fasinators for the both of us- mine was a black and white top hat; hers was a black and white striped fasinator with a veil.

I have to say I felt like a million bucks in the Lilith top- it was worth every penny! If you are wavering on this top – don’t. Get one- it is fantastic

aga and speed 001We has such a blast at this party! We partook in all the festivities- we ate cotton candy, made finger puppets, dressed up in the costume closet, helped build the dollhouse, and checked out some exhibits.

We sipped on cocktails and wine all night and let our inner clown out! I had the most fun than I have had in a while! I can’t wait to see what the next Refinery party will be so I can snag some tickets and get dressed up again. Now that it is winter ( and super cold) I wont get many opportunities to get dressed up all fancy like.

aga and speed 022We even ran into a friendly face…who was wearing the oh so lovely Jenny dress in the harlequin print which was beyond fitting for the occasion.

what i wore: heartbreaker doreen

I fell in love with this dress the moment I saw it- the cut and the pattern, it was the perfect combination. But as luck would have it, both mediums were snatched up, so I had to wait patiently for it to come, special order for me. This dress is perfectly mod and so flattering and on lots of different body shapes too.

Like I mentioned above, I got a medium and it fits like a glove. The cut is so nice and I feel terrific in it. Its fun and flirty without being to risqué, so its the perfect little mod dress. There are so other patterns- plaid, an atomic, and black and white “optic”. The cosmic dot was my favorite, but I do have my eye on the black and white one. There is a tie in the back for that extra cinched waist look, that every gal wants.

I wore the Doreen to work the other day with a pair of black wedges and did my hair up in a messy mini beehive with a big turquoise flower in the back. I felt like a 60’s gal for sure.

I got mine at Rowena– they still have them in stock if you’re in the market for a super cute mod dress. This exact style is not on but they have a ton of other Heartbreaker styles.

Also check out the Heartbreaker website to see all the styles they offer.
