Danger De Lux: MIA

I haven’t been posting much lately…or at all for that matter. I started a new job about 2 months ago, which means I am no longer surrounded by pinup dresses and gals, but instead am working 10- 12 hours a day at a gym. As I am transitioning and figuring out how to balance work and life, I have found little to no time to be creative. I am also trying to figure out what I want to do with this blog…if I want to keep it, changing up the content, or just stop all together.

At the end of my day, I have no energy left to try to write about clothing I don’t even get to wear anymore. You see, I wear gym clothes all day everyday now… well, except for Tuesdays when I work at Swish. I didn’t think it would be such a big deal, not dressing up everyday…but I really miss it. By the time Saturday night rolls around, I’m usually exhausted from my week and would rather stay in. I have been making more of an effort though to go out and wear my dresses, that now hang sadly in the closet.

I have also been feeling overwhelmed with life and some of the choices I need to make in the upcoming months as I approach my 30th birthday (eeks!) My mind has been working over time thinking, thinking, thinking!

So, that is where I have been…at the gym, in my gym clothes! And trying to sort out life and what I intend on doing with it. I’m hoping to get back into the swing of blogging things here shortly

what’s in your makeup bag: Safauna-Hello June Photography

Today Safauna from Hello June Photography and Rowena, shares what makeup she loves and uses when getting all gussied up.

I am excited to share with you Safauna and her makeup kit, as she is the one who has been taking all the lovely photos of me lately. Safauna does a great a pinup look, is a total babe, and is one the most sarcastic gals I know ( and that’s why we all love her). She is an absolute top-notch photographer and has really helped me learn to pose and feel more comfortable in front of the camera.

Here is what Safauna had to say about her look

“I’m not big on wearing make-up everyday but when I do this is what I use. It’s pretty self explanatory and not over the top fancy (ie totally drug store make-up). I do always carry brush cleaner for my eyeliner brush, it makes a better line if done with a clean brush. And the setting powder was a fluke, I ran out of my Cover FX setting powder and decided to try using Lush dusting powder in its place (no one likes a shiny face!) and have preferred it over traditional setting powders I’ve used (and it smells oh so lovely!). The Estée Lauder pallet covers all my eyebrow, blush, and bronzer needs and if I decide to wear eyeshadow (which I typically don’t) it is satisfactory. Main thing is to get a good red lipstick; I prefer Besame after years of using 24 hour lipsticks that dried my lips out and just wasn’t nice. Besame is smooth, doesn’t dry out, and is easy to remove (so if you make a mistake it’s not the end of the world!). Easy peasy!”

Safauna is able to achieve a very classic look with minimal makeup and with out the big price tag of designer brands. Creating a pinup look does not have to cost a lot- work with what you have, the brands you’ve used, know, and trust, and practice the look ( this goes for the fashion, hair, and makeup).

photo 1Safauna plays up her features – her big eyes and luscious lips- with a great cat eye and a great red lip. I would have to agree with her that Beseme makes fabulous lipsticks that last through the day, are cruelty free, American made, and feel great on your lips.

What is your favorite lipstick?

KISS

Last Friday night my bf and I went to see KISS. Neither of us are huge fans or even own any of their albums- we just wanted to go because we knew it would be tons of fun and the live show would be super rad ( which is was).

When I’m not dressed rockabilly or pin-up like, my style is a bit more rock n roll, so that is precisely how I dressed for this particular occasion, being a rock concert and all. I snapped a few photos of my outfit to share, so you could see how else I dress.

I wore a zebra print tunic dress from H & M, a white studded vest, fishnets, and my favorite doc marten biker boots, plus red lips, lots of eyeliner, and teased hair!

I was actually much more excited than I appear here- we were in a hurry to get out the door, so we had to be extra quick with the picture taking!

We were so high up… like pretty much the highest up you could get

See those tiny figures on the stage? Yup, that’s KISS.

There was tons of fire and fire works and fancy gimmicks! I loved their outfits too and The Starchilds dance moves- I have now fallen in love with Paul Stanley!

I haven’t been able to get this song out of my head for days…
